Anecdotal Success of School Choice in DC

My friend Dan Stabile is the principal of Holy Redeemer Catholic School in DC.  I had a chance to visit him, and his wonderful teachers and students in June, right before summer break started. Holy Redeemer has the largest number of voucher students in DC.  The school is a ray of hope in a school system traditionally covered in dark clouds.  Read my Washington Times piece here.

Is it a coincidence that two government programs subject to competition save money and those done the  "old fashion way" don't?  Look no farther than the Medicare program to see evidence that competition reduces cost while government monopoly is more expensive.  Read more here.

Back from Vacation

I just spent two weeks on vacation in California.  Great place to visit, but... well you know the rest.
It's a beautiful, but strange place. One of the view locations where people get mad if the weather is not perfect.  Anyway, I'm going to try to do some posting this next week and update the site a little more regularly with lots of election news as the 2006 mid-terms approach.

Compassion Infrastructure

I often wonder what will happen to the "compassionate conservative" agenda after President Bush leaves office.  Besides Mr. Bush, not many people talk about it these days.  It's possible the agenda needs more of an outside infrastructure to help it succeed.  Here are some recent thoughts on that topic.
